winding yarn

having heard there was a way to wind yarn so that you can pull it from the center, i asked google (love google) and there it was, and it worked. here is the process, tho i am sorry i didn't note where it came from...

"Grab the loose end of the yarn firmly between back fingers and palm of your left hand, about 12" from the end. Wind the yarn 6 or 8 times around the thumb and index finger in a figure eight. Slip yarn off of your fingers and fold it in half. Holding the folded yarn between your thumb and index finger, wind the yarn loosely around the yarn and fingers about a dozen times. Keeping your thumb in the center, continue to wind the yarn, turning the ball constantly so it will be round. When it is about 3" across, you can remove your thumb and continue winding loosely until all the yarn is used. Be careful not to wind over the center yarn. Use the ball by drawing yarn out from the center. "
