August 16 :: On my head it felt something like I had put on a tea cozy, but, we will see, my daughter would look beautiful wearing a tea cozy... I tested out another slipper pattern over the weekend, I just feel I should be able to invent my own...and I tested a few mitered squares in waterspun weekend, and though it would be a beautiful rug, again, I am feeling like I want to do something I've not seen done before.

Molly's made some happy colored slippers

Aug. 13 :: What I wanted my next journal entry to be was a picture of the hat made from leftover hot water bottle yarn, but I have been sidetracked by this and that, including a bit of tomato humor.

I made a test of the Vogue magazine slipper (photo lower right) and tho it wasn't a good fit to Karly's foot it helped me understand how I could get there. I have a good batch of waterspun weekend (thankyou elann) which I think would make long lasting slippers. I also wonder if it would work well for the mitered square rug from Interweave Knits(also lower right) My original idea for this yarn was to copy in size my favorite polar fleece vest.

Another project that is stuck in my head is making a sofa blanket for one of my dear sister-in-laws. She has shown me her colors, and I have several here, bits of different things, but in testing out patchwork designs, I've found the different weights of yarn to be troublesome. In yesterdays mail was an ad from Blackberry Ridge Woolen Mill and one thing offered there was a Cabin Fever stole, lacy, left me wanting to chose just one yarn and do something like that... and Nanette, look at these, made for you, imho xoxo

Think I might do some Blackberry Ridge shopping xo

August 9 :: fair success on 2nd try. If I were to try again, I think I would take out a bit of the white, I like how the top decrease section looks where I left out some of the charted pattern (reverse of the bottom triangles)

There is enough Bella left over for a hat, and it just so hapens that I can see the braid and waves part as a hat. I'd also like to try socks from the Simply Socks book, with the rainbow colored Noboli (picture a bit farther down...) Strangest thing I want to do in this hot hot month is to knit a Lopi sweater....

Le Fibre Nobili merino from elann (just about sold out now)

August 5 :: Above, one of the reasons my stash never decreases... there is always something fun coming before my eyes... below, the beginning of hot water bottle cover. the yarn is Patons Bella, 50/50 wool/acrylic. I got a bit farther before deciding I didn't like the pattern I was attempting (I do like this beginning)

My first thought was to do china cloud (Kaffe Fassett) and I may go back to that idea. Instead I picked some patterns from Simply Socks...trying to make a definite edge pattern along the edge of the bottle and then something on front and back. Patterns change in looks quite a bit from sock yarn to super chunky : )
