:: November 16 ::
Went down to the most beautiful ever photo studio
and took pictures of my latest reworked hat. The back view is
to show the i-cord knot that lets the hat be tied a bit tighter
for smaller heads,
Big version is truly big, beware...
but wonderful, we had a very high tide this week which
did some major housekeeping on the beach, rearranged some giant
driftwood.
Non-knittingwise, ever since I got my new eMac, I
have continued to work mostly in the "classic environment"
and get so frustrated with most of the new stuff. At the moment
I am trying to work with GoLive & Photoshop (both cs versions)
on a 30 day trial basis...so today's pictures came from Photoshop
instead of my classic photodeluxe. It made an amazingly quick
web gallery of all the other beach shots we took, but then I
got fumbly when trying to put it up. Anyway, trying to learn
a new thing each day but I may have to just claim the classic
is me status, call it Grandma Classic or something to make my
heart lighter.
Am trying this stranded bit with another Alchemy fiber
that is half silk/half merino. With luck & time, these hats
will become patterns for Alchemy
best ever catnip mouse update : attempts 3 & 4
got closer to perfect, a bit of tweeking at tail and nose and
I think it will be there. Will try to write it up in the "new
environment"

Looks beautiful doesn't it ? Not on my head it doesn't ~ but
I wanted you to see before I remake it to suit me. Max
sent me a present that may actually be all that is needed...
Would like to be wearing this hat in 4 weeks when
we get to visit Ben xoxo
2nd catnip mouse turned out too plump. 3rd try will
be the charmer. of course my head is full of other catnipy ideas
as I work out this one...

This pair was made from stash wool that had lost its label,
its all wool and lightly tweeded. The pattern is from folk socks,
tho I think I used only parts of one or two different patterns.
The flower bit above the heel was a quirk since I was still knitting
around, I left long tail to do 2nd row and embroidered the last
row in (if memory serves)(looking at the sock I can't tell for
sure anymore, it has all felted together on the inside-which
is cozy) I have some gray & red cashmere that Iwould like
to recreate these in.
Wish I had had my camera in town yesterday. There's a local
man we often see out walking his 3 small but plump dogs and yesterday
they were wearing sweaters, one in sophisticated gray, one in
fancy red, and one in bright multi-colored stripes.
Dogs in sweaters always put me in mind of a Mickey Mouse cartoon
in which Minnie knit a sweater for Pluto (is that the right name?)
and he was so embarrassed to wear it outside. He was teased by
other dogs and the family cat, who in the end got her comeupance
when the sweater got wet and shrank down to cat size...
My first attempt at "best ever catnip mouse"
pattern turned out a bit skinny.
