 :: September 21 ::

Can you begin to see how this works? The very first round is in the center, and every time I finish a round there is a new row on both sides of center. magic!

 :: September 20 ::

I am enchanted! and feeling proud for conquering the "moebius cast on". When finished here this morning I want to put those words into google and see who else has tried this. Here is what my sample looked like after about 8 rows.. with a bright orange line to show you the position of the cable. How did she ever imagine this?

Awhile ago I had a very strong wish to try new things in knitting. Now, if you are listening, Universe, hold those new ideas, I am overwhelmed. Let me catch up xoxo

 :: September 17 ::

Yesterday's new start...boo-too.. in silk garden #73 and Cash Iroha #47(one of the oldest things in my yarn stash) The pattern is written for 2 colors of silk garden, using iroha for ruffles, but gauge stays fine this way. This is a new stitch for me as well, working 2 rows of one color while slipping the other colors stitches, then doing the same with the slipped stitches color. I don't know if it looks much different than stranded knitting, but I find it easier.

Usually when I have so many projects going at once, a few of them refuse to ever get finished. I have a good pile of these and want to start slipping them into daily knitting time too.....but not today...or this weekend in which I hope to start on some waterspun weekend slippers that I have been daydreaming about for the last few weeks.

 :: September 16 ::

I seem to want to start something new every day. Yesterday's start was a lacy headband, from some gray cashmere that popped up while I was straightening up, or trying to, one closet's corner of stash yarns. I like lace, though I've never had the nerve to do anything big. I tried a bit ago a few starts at pretty little morning (see right hand column) and about the 3rd set of circles I was sure I had gotten off track. Then Benjamin came to visit and my attention was happily diverted.

New knitty gives me more starting new things wishes. I very much like boo-too and always have goo-gobs of silk garden on hand with which to knit it. Also I like the weaving bit from colorlines and that fits right in with my desire to keep trying new things. Followed it's designer, Natalie Wilson, to her website, and was impressed with many more of her designs.

And if that weren't enough excitement for one morning, I followed her link to One Fine Yarn and saw new to me yarns that I will have to find another closet space to fill up with, Diakeito Diamusee for instance.

What are you going to start today? xo

 :: September 14 ::

Weekend travels included this knitting project, a hat for Benjamin in Alchemy silk purse~ I started out with 2 4 stitch i-cords, one from each skein, then worked around the 8 stitches in 1 x 1 stranding. It has a nice stretch and super softness.

Have given up on colorful argyle waterspun vest, tho I like the argyle part and the waist band, I don't like them together. I started a complete opposite idea in one color, a diagonal ribbed vest...the size U.S13 needles make fast work of it.

I'm excited to begin creating slippers for my family, I am afraid a bit, I want to make them up and let them be a bit wild...as if I were Debbie New...hoping the relative smallness of feet & the big fast knitted wool will set my spirit free.
